Generating Presentation Quality Custom Reports from Oracle Project Management

At the OAUG Collaborate 08 conference, this presentation was delivered by Sam Uttarwar and Vijay Ranganathan of Project Partners. A leading multinational energy transportation and distribution corporation implemented Oracle Project Management in 2006. The reporting framework within the application did not provide nicely formatted presentation-quality management reports that combined the project work and financial data with graphical project images, maps and charts. This presentation was delivered at the OAUG Collaborate 07 Conference by Neeraj Garg, who was Oracle's chief architect for Release 11.5.10 M. In this session attendees learned how to use user-defined attributes (UDAs) in Oracle Projects applications. UDAs are similar to DFFs, but much more powerful in four major ways. You can use an unlimited number of UDAs; You can have many records of data associated to a single entity as opposed to only one record; They can be setup in Oracle Projects to look and feel like a standard setup option for the project; and UDAs provide for a function accessed via a link or a button that can be used to call any validation/processing logic needed.
