Experts in Oracle Primavera migrates Oracle Primavera P6 to the cloud, alleviates time-consuming back-end support needed to manage the desktop application.

Challenge:

The Ohio Department of Transportation's (ODOT, the administrative department of the Ohio state government responsible for all state and federal roadways) contractors are required to submit Oracle Primavera P6 schedules for approval prior to starting work, along with monthly updates and time impact analyses when schedules are affected. ODOT construction managers import the P6 files to standalone P6 databases (version 8.4) for review and approval. As a result, the IT division was supporting the P6 desktop client application and database for over 100 separate instances. Additionally, management lacked visibility to project schedules, databases weren't always backed up, and the standard processes could not be implemented.

Solution:

ODOT selected Oracle Primavera P6 EPPM Cloud as the enterprise solution they needed. Project Partners and Mythics was engaged to assist with ODOT's migration to the cloud, including configuration design, user access, data import, process documentation, and end-user training guide development.

Outcome:

  • P6 EPPM in the cloud transferred the back end support originally needed from the ODOT IT staff to the Oracle Cloud team.
  • The desktop client, however, is still being supported by ODOT IT with a virtual desktop deployment.
  • The migration to a cloud enterprise solution has driven standardization in the P6 design and configuration, and also provides management with visibility to their contractor schedules.
