RUP 4 Patches You May Not Be Aware Of

Oracle provides a strong resource with its recommended patch lists (RPL). However, Project Partners is pleased to offer a  detailed list of patches we have uncovered during implementations or as a result of internal testing.

As with any patch, you should always do detailed research to find the patch number and description. It is always important to investigate the patches thoroughly, understand their compatibility with those you have already applied, and how they might impact your environment, especially where customizations are concerned. This is where the importance of testing your functionality comes into play.

With that said, below is some beneficial ‘insider information for your review.

6372398 PJT MRIII-MRIV: This patch fixes the Data Corruption issues and Publish Workplan errors. This is recommended for all customers using Oracle Project Management on 11i.PJ_PF.M with Rollup 3 (OR) Rollup 4.
6350124 PJT MRIII-MRIV: This patch fixes the Data Corruption issues and Publish Workplan errors. This is recommended for all customers using Oracle Project Management on 11i.PJ_PF.M with Rollup 3 (OR) Rollup 4.
6356456 PJT MRII-MRIII-MRIV: This patch fixes the issue of validation not being done on the Task End Date against the Project End Date. This is recommended for all customers using Oracle Project Foundation on 11i.PJ_PF.M with Rollup 2 (OR) Rollup 3 (OR) Rollup 4. This was confirmed during this implementation

6013103 PJT MRII-MRIII-MRIV: This patch ensures that no duplicate names are allowed to create Budget Type. This is recommended for all customers using Oracle Project Management on 11i.PJ_PF.M with Rollup 2 or Rollup 3 or Rollup 4.
6210223 PJ 1OFF:6155136:11.5.10MRIV: PRC: MAINTAIN PROJECT RESOURCES – PERSON TYPE PARAMETER ERR. Correct unique values appear in the person type parameter of  PRC: Maintain Project Resources concurrent process.
6188963 PJT 1OFF:5988895:11.5.10MRIV: ISSUES UPLOADING TIME PHASE AMOUNTS FROM MSP TO ORACLE. When time-phased data is sent to Oracle Projects for resources of type ‘Material’ in MSP, correct amounts are sent.
6254227 PJT 1OFF:6140979:11I.PJ_PF.MRI: PA_PROJECT_PUB.UPDATE_PROJECT ERROR ORA-6519: ACTIVE AUTONOMOUS TRANSACTION DETECTED AND ROLLED BACK.

1. While trying to update a project using PA_PROJECT_PUB.UPDATE_PROJECT AMG API, a proper error message is shown if an unexpected error exists.

2. Work plan tasks are created using PA_PROJECT_PUB for a fully shared structure project.ADD_TASK AMG API is reflected in the Financial structure when the work plan is published.

5582197 PJT 1OFF:ER:11.5.10MR3: SUPPORTING NEGATIVE QUANTITY / AMOUNTS IN BUDGETS & FORECASTS AND PROJECT PERFORMANCE REPORTING.

This is required only if your client is on MRUP3. Oracle Product Development announcement.

5767364 PJT MRIII – This patch fixes the issue of ETC being non-zero even when the plan is zero in the published version after “PRC: Update Project Performance Data” is run. This patch is recommended for customers who have already applied patch 5582197.

New Behavior

On running “PRC: Update Project Performance Data,” ETC will

be derived as zero in the published version when the plan

is zero, and the actual is negative.

1) When uploading the data to Oracle Projects without any change, the Workplan planned effort and cost remain the same.

2) Actuals and Costs corresponding to resource assignments are correctly displayed when periods corresponding to task assignments are updated using AMG API UPDATE_TASK_ASSIGNMENT_PERIODS when a resource has actuals.

The Raw Cost Rate, Burdened Cost Rate, and Bill Rate amount flags for the budget versions created through pa_budget_pub.create_draft_budget API defaults from the plan type setup.

Some part of this issue was faced in Enbridge and cleaned up the MSP Integration flows

Helps in better usage of all options in the Project Performance: Periodic Summary page

This issue was encountered during Enbridge’s implementation. It helps retain a forecast line with equal amounts of actual and adverse ETC so that the forecast is zero. In addition, it helps simulate a reversal situation.

Summary page, Resource Summary page, Periodic Summary page and

Period to Date summary pages is showing the Overview page in

the printable format always.
